MUSICAL COLORS/Open letter to Kelis

I remember being 12 years old blasting "Caught Out There" in my room whenever my parents wouldn't let me have my way. Kelis, you were easily my favorite artist for the greater part of my early teens and even now. Kaleidoscope made me wanna rock my curls big and Pharrells voice would melt my 12 year old heart every time. Last year I saw you perform in Dubai at a birthday party and my 21 year old heart only grew more keen for you Ms. Jones (formerly Ms. Rogers). Your album "Tasty" was not my favorite but I still bought it without hesitation because like I said, I love you girl and you are, no lie, my first girl crush. However, we need to talk girl. What is going on with the video below and the song in general? I've stuck by you but this I cannot get with. From songwriter to songwriter....WHAT IS GOING ON?? Let me join your writing team and help bring back the Kelis we all grew to love! Don't get me wrong, I am all about progression and expression as an artist but your progressing into a Golden Avatar with overly written lyrics and it's upsetting me. I'm upset. Please don't disappoint me.

SXSW & Macy Gray's debut single

Finally arrived in Austin, Texas after 16 hours of traveling! I am here to enjoy one day of SXSW festivities, yay! Surprisingly I am not as tired as I thought I would be and am tempted to go out....BUT I'm gonna be a good girl and get some rest. Macy is performing along side some other cool artists (Sliimy, Estelle, Courtney Love-Hole!!) at Perez Hilton's annual show case. Russia be kind...Let's not rewind.

I've arrived in Moscow, Russia for the Grand Opening of a fabulous restaurant to which I don't know the name! It is snowing and beautiful...However, everybody knows that Russia isn't exactly my favorite place but I will give you one last chance to prove me wrong Russia. 3rd times a charm, right? However, I can't ignore what is going on in Russia. Although I have never encountered anything like the video below, I have definitely felt very un-welcomed in my previous visits to here. Being a woman of color and an American are not exactly ideal when roaming the streets alone at night (so they tell me).

Remember when you were a kid and you had that one toy that you WOULD NOT share with your best friend no matter how much they begged, cried or tempted you with their new limited addition POG you had been asking you parents to buy you for weeks? That's how I feel about "Plastic Beach", the Gorillaz newest album. It's mine! mine! mine! And I don't wanna share. However, in the 22 years I have been living  my mother has forced manners upon me and I will allow you all to go to you itunes and download this spectacular record they have created. It has been 5 long years without these beautiful specimens melting my ears with new contagious rhythms but their back like they never left! Plastic Beach is a beast and I wanna sunbathe all over it...if you haven't copped it GET ON IT NOW. I can't wait to see then live at Coachella, Check out Russell, 2D, and Murdoc's individual character teasers below and the new video for the debut single, "Stylo"!

Healthy Choice

Is it hard to believe that the United States allows almost 47 million people to live without Health Insurance? And out of that 47 million almost 9 million are children? hmmm...Not really. We are living in a nation where the heads of these companies get paid millions per year as a result of keeping insurance costs high. Premiums are raising about 3 times faster the inflation while the few twiddle their thumbs, flying their private jets and enjoying the luxury of, I'm positive, the best insurance coverage ever created! Meanwhile my fellow Mexicans (if ya didn't know, now you do) are the most underinsured minority around, next to asians and blacks. HEALTH CARE REFORM NOW!

Fashion Obsession of the Week (F.O.W)

 We all have addictions and obsessions as women and men. Drugs, sex, love, people... Take your pick. Well mine happens to be shoes, Accessories and clothing.
